World Buddhist Leaders Visited the Temple of the Tooth “Sri Dalada Maligawa” Kandy Delegates were Welcomed by Diyawadana Nilame Nilanga Dela Bandara.

Day 06 – Botanical garden, Peradeniya

Planting of a sampling of sacred Satinwood by the President of the World Buddhist Summit His Eminence Khamba Lama Gabju Choijmuts Demberal, Vice President Most Venerable Dr. Shinkai Kori, General Secretary Most Venerable Weragoda Sarada Maha Nayaka Thero and Chairman of the 7th Buddhist Summit Hon. Thilanga Sumathipala – Deputy Speaker of Parliament together with Their Royal Highnesses the Princesses of Cambodia and Bhutan, Deputy Minister for Wildlife and Sustainable Development, Hon. Madam Sumedha G Jayasekera and the Chief Minister of the Central Province, Hon. Sarath Ekanayaka.

Delegates who participated 7th World Buddhist Summit Visited Dambulla Rajamaha Viharaya one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites and Dambulla Golden Temple. Delegates were Welcomed by Ven. Inamaluwa Sumangala thero.

The Chief Prelates, Their Royal Highnesses and other delegates were received at the Anuradhapura Maha Viharaya and Worship at the sacred tree The Supreme Leaders, Their Royal Highnesses and other delegates worship at the sacred Sri Maha Bodhiya prior to chanting of pirith (2017 – 11 – 06)

Video Production Meeting

A meeting with Buddhist Channels (Shraddha TV, The Buddhist Channel, Rangiri Sri Lanka), Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation, event compliers and SINE production team was held at 26/10/2017 at Buddhist Summit Secretariat. Hon. Thilanga Sumathipala chaired this meeting. Details on Live TV coverage, post tv coverage, complier program were briefed at this meeting. Most Ven. Weragoda Saradha, Most Venerable Dr. Shinkai Kori, and members of Japanese delegation was also participated at this meeting.

Meeting at President Secretariat

A Progress Review Meeting on 7th Buddhist Summit was held at 26/10/2017, 11am at President Secretariat. Most Ven. Weragoda Saradha, Most Venerable Dr. Shinkai Kori, Vice President of the World Buddhist Summit and Hon. Thilanga Sumathipala co-chaired meeting. The current status of organizing activities were discussed at this meeting. Representatives of President Office, PM Office, Ministry of Buddha Sasana, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Law and Order, Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation, Ministry of Highways, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Mass Media, Colombo Municipal Council were participated at this meeting. Security issues, VVIP arrangement, protocol issues and opening ceremony organizing activities were mainly discussed at this meeting.

Bodhi Pooja

A Bodhi Pooja was held at Punchi-Borella Bhodiya to invoke  blessings for the upcoming 7th  Buddhist Summit .  Most Ven. Weragoda Saradha, Most Venerable Dr. Shinkai Kori, Vice President of the World Buddhist  Summit Chairman of the  7th Buddhist Summit Organizing Committee Deputy Speaker Hon. Thilanga  Sumathipala , Chief Secretary of the World Buddhist Summit Mr Muneyuki Suzuki and  other delegates of the Buddhist  Summit were  present at the occasion.

The Workshop for Liaison Officers

The Workshop for Liaison Officers commenced on the 23rd October 2017 and at Summit Office. The programme focused on creating awareness among the Liaison offices. A full review of the programme was carried out with active participation of all the Liaison Offices. The day ended with a good understanding of the event and the relevant duties of the Liaison offices by creating fellowships among the team.Chairman, Seventh Buddhist Summit Organizing Committee, Hon. Thilanga Sumathipala also addressed the gathering.

Meeting with the Heads of State Media Organisations

Chairman, 7th Buddhist Summit Organising Committee, Hon. Thilanga Sumathipala and Deputy Minister of Finance & Mass Media Hon. Lasantha Alagiawanna, together with the General Secretary of the World Buddhist Summit and other delegates met with the Heads of State Media Organisations today to brief them on the 7th Buddhist Summit.

Chairman of the 7th Buddhist Summit, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Hon. Thilanga Sumathipala together with Deputy Secretary of the World Buddhist Summit Mr. Akira Ito and other delegates of the Buddhist Summit met with Prime Minister Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe in order to brief him on the ongoing plans for the 7th Buddhist Summit to be hosted by His Excellency the President from the 2nd to 7th November at Temple Trees.
